Targeted support for farmers in frontline areas to be strengthened in 2027 – minister

Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky announced plans to strengthen targeted support for farmers in frontline areas in 2027, according to Suspilne television and Ukrinform. The necessary funds have been included in the draft state budget for the upcoming year. Vysotsky emphasized the need for prompt assistance for farmers facing risks stemming from the ongoing war.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is simultaneously developing an additional financial reserve for the agricultural sector to enable a quicker response to future war-related challenges. Vysotsky called upon international partners to assist in creating a more readily accessible fund to address urgent issues.

Furthermore, the minister revealed that agricultural producers in frontline areas will be exempted from minimum tax liability. This exemption is set to be implemented through a bill already registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Additionally, the government continues supporting farmers in frontline areas by offering a program to compensate for the cost of Ukrainian-made agricultural machinery.

To qualify for a 40% compensation, farmers must prove that over 80% of their land is situated within areas of active or potential hostilities, with the land plot information registered in the appropriate state registers.

Vysotsky also mentioned that the UAH 1,000-per-hectare compensation program for 2025 will be paid by the end of 2026. Recently, Ukraine and its international partners have reached an agreement to provide approximately $10.5 million in support to agricultural producers in frontline regions for temporary crop storage.
