Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent placed in the NFL concussion protocol, AP source says

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent has been placed in the NFL concussion protocol, according to an AP source. This development adds another challenge to the team's preparations for their Monday night matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Bagent was anticipated to participate in most first-team practice reps following Caleb Williams' absence due to a right hamstring injury sustained in Sunday's 9-3 loss to Minnesota.

Coach Ben Johnson indicated that Williams remains "week to week" and did not rule out his potential involvement in the Eagles game. Should both Bagent and Williams be unable to play against Philadelphia, the Bears may rely on 38-year-old backup Case Keenum, who has not thrown a pass in a regular-season game since December 2023. Bagent, who recorded a career-high 859 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie in 2023, had a notable performance against the Vikings, completing five of nine passes for 54 yards before being sacked on the final play.

He attended Division II Shepherd University and signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in May 2023. Bagent extended his contract with the team in August 2025.
