DAP parliamentary member Lim Lip Eng has questioned the delay in initiating an investigation into the triple murder in Durian Tunggal, Melaka last November. On August 10, the police announced that they would file a request for the investigation, two weeks after the Attorney General's Chambers recommended the inquiry be initiated.

Two months have passed since the decision to conduct the investigation was made. Lim urged the police to ensure that the individuals involved in the shooting remain in Malaysia throughout the proceedings, while also expressing concern that they might flee the country to avoid appearing at the inquiry. He cited the recent case of a shootout at a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur, where six foreign nationals were charged with possession of weapons and subsequently believed to have fled the country.

In the Durian Tunggal case, Lim stressed that the police should not wait for suspects to leave the country before launching an investigation. He called on the police and the Attorney General's Chambers to utilize all legal means, including requesting passport surrender or travel restrictions, if there is legal basis to do so. This is not about convicting them before they are heard, but ensuring their presence when required by the court.
