UN condemns continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, urges restraint

The United Nations has expressed strong condemnation of the ongoing cross-border attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. These attacks have included attempts to target the capital city of Riyadh, as well as strikes on civilians and critical energy infrastructure within Saudi Arabia. Speaking at the UN's daily briefing, spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric reiterated the organization's condemnation of these acts, noting that Houthi forces have also targeted civilians and energy facilities in other regions of Saudi Arabia.

Dujarric urged all involved parties to demonstrate restraint and prevent further escalation of the conflict. He highlighted the UN's deep concern over the military escalation occurring both within Yemen and in the surrounding regions, particularly the Houthi offensives against forces allied with the Saudi government in cities such as Ta’iz, Lahj, and Marib.

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law, stressing that such attacks are prohibited, especially those aimed at civilian populations and civilian infrastructure.
