Ukraine disables over 45% of Russia's refining capacity – General Staff

Between September 14 and 20, Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked numerous key enemy facilities in Russia and temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, according to the General Staff's weekly summary. Notable targets included the Moscow Oil Refinery and facilities in Samara, Taganrog, Yaroslavl, Moscow, Sochi, Bryansk, Donetsk, and Rostov-on-Don.

The Syzran Oil Refinery's AVT-6 primary oil refining unit and a tank farm were hit, as well as the Moscow Oil Refinery's AVT-6 unit, comprehensive oil refining unit, and isomerization unit. The Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl's AVT-3 primary refining unit was also targeted, with an annual refining capacity of around 15 million tonnes.

These strikes have disrupted over 45% of Russia's oil refining industry's design capacity as of September 21, leaving Russia with a shortage of quality fuel and reduced production of Euro-5/K5 gasoline and diesel fuel. Additionally, Ukrainian forces have systematically targeted air defense systems, radars, electronic warfare systems, command-and-control assets, and infrastructure supporting Russian strike UAVs, ammunition, fuel, and materiel storage facilities.
