Tinubu mourns ex-Kogi gov Ibrahim Idris

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his sorrow over the passing of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who succumbed to death at the age of 77 on Sunday. In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu conveyed his condolences to Idris' family, the Kogi State Government, the general populace, and Idris' friends, associates, and political peers.

The President characterized Idris' demise as a significant loss to Kogi State and Nigeria, highlighting the former Governor's immense contribution to public service and the development of his state. Idris had held the position of Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2011, and his tenure was marked by notable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other vital sectors.

In acknowledging Idris' contributions to Nigeria's democratic growth and his extensive involvement in public affairs, Tinubu stated, "Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was a committed public servant whose years in office formed an important chapter in the political and developmental history of Kogi State." The President added, "His passing is a painful loss to his family, Kogi State, and Nigeria.

At this challenging time, we must remember and honor his contributions to the progress of his state and our nation." Tinubu conveyed his deepest sympathies to Idris' family and the people of Kogi State, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him a place in Aljannah Firdaus.
