Tikam isteri 13 kali, lelaki didakwa bunuh

G Vikneswaran, a 43-year-old man with a 13-year-old son, faced the Kulim High Court on Monday for allegedly murdering his wife, S Sila, 39, in their home on September 14. Vikneswaran, who pleaded not guilty, was only given a chance to understand the charges against him by the interpreter in front of Judge Nur Hamizah Mat Shah, reports Sinar Harian.

No plea was recorded as the case falls under the purview of the High Court. According to the charges, he was accused of causing S Sila's death by causing harm, committing murder between approximately 6:30 pm and 9:04 pm on the same day. The prosecution presented the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code. If convicted, Vikneswaran could face the death penalty or imprisonment for 30 to 40 years with a minimum of 12 years if not sentenced to death.

The alternate prosecutor S Preeyaa, who presented the charges, did not offer any guarantees to the accused. The retrial date for the autopsy and forensic report was set for December 8. Earlier reports stated that a woman died after being beaten 13 times by her husband at their home.
