Thai woman allegedly throws toddler from Bangkok flat

A Thai woman, identified as 48-year-old Yupin, is accused of throwing a three-year-old girl from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Bangkok on Saturday, September 19. The toddler is currently in critical condition. Phayathai Police Station officers responded to the incident at a five-story apartment on Soi Phetchaburi 37, Makkasan, Ratchathewi, around 10:30 am.

They found the injured woman and the girl at the scene and transported them to the hospital for emergency treatment. The girl was discovered face down, suffering from serious injuries. A pink towel was discovered nearby. Police found Yupin breathing faintly. Witnesses reportedly heard a heavy object hitting the ground and allegedly saw Yupin throw the girl before jumping from the building herself.

When police entered Yupin's room, they found the door locked from within and discovered no signs of disturbance or a struggle. Neighbors informed the police that Yupin had separated from her husband and had been renting the room for several years. She was unemployed and had previously received treatment for depression. Residents stated that Yupin had expressed concerns about someone coming to harm her, though this had not been medically confirmed.

The biological mother clarified that Yupin was a friend of the family and had approached her to stay temporarily. She reported that she had not noticed any unusual behavior or signs that Yupin intended to harm herself. The girl's mother did not take legal action against Yupin at the time of reporting. It is reported that medical staff will conduct a further assessment of Yupin's mental health to determine if she has depression or another mental health condition as suggested by residents.
