S. Korea takes bronze in men's rifle team event, misses out on individual medals

South Korea secured a bronze medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle team event at the Asian Games on Monday, but two of its shooters failed to earn individual medals. Park Ha-jun, Shin Min-ki, and Gwon Hyeop-jun combined to score a total of 1,884.2 points in their qualification round, which placed South Korea in third place in the team rankings at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, located 25 kilometers east of Nagoya.

Park led with 631.4 points, while Shin followed with 629.2 points and Gwon concluded with 623.6 points. China emerged as the gold medalist, achieving a world record score of 1,899 points, while India claimed the silver medal with 1,890.1 points. Park and Shin both qualified for the individual final on Monday, but settled for seventh and sixth places, respectively.

Park, a 2023 Asiad silver medalist in this event, did not manage to win a medal this time. The men's team bronze medal marked South Korea's second shooting medal at this year's Asian Games, following Ban Hyo-jin's bronze in the women's 10m air rifle individual competition on Sunday. Shooting events will conclude on October 1.
