Remco Evenepoel Wins Fourth Straight World Time Trial Title in Montreal

Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel secured his fourth consecutive World Time Trial title at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal on Sunday. The 24-year-old rider completed the 39.2-kilometer course in 44 minutes, 53.13 seconds, holding an average speed of 52.4 km/h. This marked the first time a rider had won the world title four times in a row in this event.

Evenepoel's win extended his streak to four consecutive championships, tying him with Fabian Cancellara and Tony Martin for the most elite men's individual time trial world titles. His fellow Belgians Filippo Ganna and Paul Seixas finished second and third, respectively, with gaps of 57.31 seconds and 1 minute and 13.04 seconds behind the Belgian champion.

Colombia's Walter Alejandro Vargas Alzate placed 37th, while Brandon Smith Rivera Vargas was 45th. Evenepoel began to separate himself from the competition early in the race, leading by more than 30 seconds after the second intermediate time check. As the race progressed, his margin over the field continued to grow, reaching 57.31 seconds by the finish line.
