Pixel VIPs 2.0 redesign starts rolling out with fullscreen look

Following last week's Feature Drop, Pixel VIPs 2.0 is starting to roll out, bringing additional modifications aside from the widget redesign. Upon upgrading to version 2.0, tapping a contact in the widget now opens a fullscreen layout, previously reachable by swiping up. This change enhances the one-handed user experience as the call and message shortcuts are now closer to the bottom of the screen.

Other alterations to this page include a pencil icon in the top-right corner that enables quick editing in Google Contacts. The call, message, video, and contact buttons now feature outline-style icons. Google has also relocated the "Local updates" card to the top spot above "Last connection," while "Notes" is now the final section. In the past, Pixel VIPs had removed the media and place recommendations.

The most significant update today is a new pill-shaped switcher displaying all your VIPs, facilitating quick switching without returning to the homescreen. The existing widget redesign is not live yet following the upgrade to Pixel VIPs 2.0. However, there is a preview of the new layout featuring "space for quick actions," enabling direct calls and messages from the widget.
