Pakistan carries out 'calibrated’ airstrikes against terrorist targets in border region with Afghanistan

On Monday, Pakistan's information ministry announced that the country had conducted targeted airstrikes in the border region with Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of over 28 terrorists. These "calibrated" strikes targeted the hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organizations responsible for recent terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the statement.

Credible intelligence guided the precision and accuracy of the operation, which destroyed three specific targets, including a suicide bombers' training center, killing the terrorists and multiple suicide bombers. Additionally, large quantities of weapons and ammunition were destroyed at these centers and hideouts. The term "Fitna al Khawarij" refers to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Prior to the airstrikes, security forces carried out a ground operation on Sunday in Kohat and Hangu districts, successfully eliminating nine terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al Khawarij. The ministry emphasized that Pakistan has always prioritized regional peace and stability, but the safety and security of its citizens remain its utmost concern.

The increasing threat from Afghanistan was cited as the reason for their action, as Afghanistan remains a hub of terrorism. The airstrikes follow a series of recent attacks in Pakistan, including a major attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kohat district that killed 23 people and injured approximately 100 others.
