Pakistan carries out 'calibrated’ airstrikes against terrorist targets in border region with Afghanistan

On Monday, Pakistan carried out highly targeted airstrikes on terrorist sites located in the "border region with Afghanistan". According to the information ministry, these strikes resulted in the deaths of more than 28 terrorists and targeted the hideouts of extremist groups responsible for recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The ministry emphasized that the strikes were conducted with precision and accuracy, aiming to destroy terrorist camps and their associated weapons and ammunition.

The targeted groups were identified as Fitna al Khawarij and its affiliates, a banned organization commonly known as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Prior to the airstrikes, security forces conducted a precise ground operation in Kohat and Hangu districts, resulting in the capture and elimination of additional terrorists. The ministry highlighted Pakistan's commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability, citing "safety and security of our citizens" as their top priority.

They asserted that the primary threat to Pakistan emanates from Afghanistan, where the Taliban continues to harbor terrorist sanctuaries.

Following the airstrikes, the information ministry reaffirmed Pakistan's ongoing "relentless counterterrorism campaign, Ghazab lil Haq under vision 'Azm-i-Istehkam'". This campaign aims to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country. The ministry stated that this campaign will continue at full pace to eliminate the threat posed by terrorist organizations.
