Olympic champion cyclist Evenepoel wins record 4th straight world time-trial title

Montreal, September 21 — Belgian cycling sensation Remco Evenepoel clinched his fourth consecutive world time-trial title in a dominant performance at the Montreal championships. The 26-year-old, previously an Olympic champion in both time-trial and road race disciplines, maintained a commanding lead throughout the grueling course.

By the halfway point, Evenepoel had already extended his lead to more than half a minute, and by the finish line, he had added an additional minute to Filippo Ganna in second place and another 15 seconds to Paul Seixas in third. This marks Evenepoel as the first athlete to secure four consecutive world time-trial titles, tying the record for most overall titles held by German Tony Martin and Swiss Fabian Cancellara.

The Belgian cyclist, who has gone unbeaten in time-trials since the 2025 Tour de France, expressed his joy and motivation in winning the prestigious title for the fourth time. Meanwhile, in the women's race, Swiss Marlen Reusser retained her world time-trial title, edging out Britain's Zoe Backstedt by 40 seconds in a long and challenging 39.2km course.
