Malaysia condemns Houthi attacks, stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Malaysia has strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, expressing full solidarity with the Kingdom. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry emphasized its support for Saudi Arabia's endeavors to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the security and safety of its populace, in line with the United Nations Charter and international law.

"Malaysia also supports all efforts towards de-escalation and an immediate end to the hostilities," the statement said on Monday. The escalation in hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has seen Saudi authorities confirming that a ballistic missile fired towards Riyadh on September 19 was intercepted and destroyed. The Houthis have also attempted to target civilians and civilian installations in Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, but their attacks were foiled.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that Houthi missile and drone strikes on Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif on September 14 injured 13 civilians and caused damage to several houses and vehicles. The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Malaysia's longstanding partnership with Saudi Arabia, vowing to further bolster bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of both nations.
