LASEMA clears container truck obstruction on Lagos road

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has resolved an obstruction caused by a container truck on a road in Lagos. The incident occurred on Sunday evening near National-Ashade, where a MACK truck carrying two 20-foot containers had tilted and blocked approximately 80% of the roadway. According to LASEMA's Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency's Eagle Response Team was called to the scene following a report, arriving to find the truck in distress.

The agency stated that the incident was caused by a tire burst, which led the truck to tilt and obstruct the road. LASEMA's responders immediately implemented traffic diversion measures and secured the area to prevent further harm while waiting for heavy-duty equipment. Using a private crane, forklifts, and their own lowbed, the containers were recovered and placed on the lowbed, while the MACK truck was towed to the LASTMA yard at Oshodi using a private tow truck.

The road was fully cleared and reopened for normal traffic. No injuries or fatalities were reported in either incident. LASEMA's officials praised their response teams and called for proper vehicle maintenance, adherence to speed limits and traffic regulations, and quick reporting of emergencies through the 767 and 112 emergency lines.
