Iran’s Guards threaten to hit new targets if US attacks

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have threatened to strike new targets and deploy advanced weaponry if the United States launches further attacks on the country. The warning comes seven months into the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Washington, which has thus far remained at a stalemate. The IRGC, the ideological branch of Iran's military, stated that their defense capabilities and counteroffensive tactics will see significant upgrades in response to a new U.S. strike.

They also revealed that the targets of their retaliation may not remain the same as previous attacks, as they have identified fresh targets that have yet to be engaged. In addition, the Guards expressed readiness to engage in a prolonged conflict. On Saturday, Iran's central military command reportedly claimed that the U.S. was plotting new actions against Tehran, though no specific details were provided.

Despite a recent reduction in fighting following a late-month flare-up, both nations are persistently maintaining trade embargoes in the Strait of Hormuz to exert economic pressure. The war has expanded into Yemen, with Iran-backed Houthi rebels gaining more territory from the Saudi-backed government and launching attacks on Saudi objectives, including the capital Riyadh.
