Iran’s Guards threaten to hit new targets if US attacks

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has threatened to launch attacks on new targets and deploy advanced weapons if the United States initiates further aggression against Iran. This warning came on Monday, during the ongoing conflict between the two nations. Despite the war entering its seventh month, Iran and the US remain at a standstill, with neither side ready to resume full-scale hostilities.

A spokesman for the IRGC, an ideological branch of Iran's military, stated that there will be "significant changes" in their defense and counteroffensive if the US strikes again. He added that the world will be "surprised" by the introduction of new weapons with enhanced capabilities and that the targets will likely be different from previous ones. The Guards also declared their readiness for a prolonged war.

Earlier in the week, the central command of Iran's military suggested that the US was planning new actions against Tehran, according to state television, although no further details were provided. The recent conflict between the US and Iran has shown signs of easing following a late month flare-up, although sporadic attacks continue, particularly on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Both sides are maintaining rival blockades in the waterway as part of their pressure tactics. The war has also spilled over into Yemen, where Iran-backed Houthis have gained more territory from the Saudi-backed government and have launched attacks on Saudi targets, including the capital Riyadh.
