Interior Minister Naqvi warns PTI against Sept 27 protest call, urges party to ‘change course'

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi cautioned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party against their scheduled September 27 protest march to Islamabad, urging them to reconsider their decision. This warning came during a press briefing as the party prepared for the nationwide demonstration aimed at securing the release of their founder, Imran Khan.

Naqvi emphasized that engaging in such "drama" would not yield any positive outcomes and advised the party to steer clear of this "dead-end street". He reiterated that the government would not leave any "loopholes" in its response if the party proceeded with the march. Naqvi disclosed that the majority leadership within PTI did not support the march, but if they did, the government would ensure compliance with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.

He pleaded with PTI to adopt an alternative approach, urging them not to harm themselves or their workers. When asked if the government had a long-term solution to address PTI's recurring protest calls, Naqvi expressed optimism about finding a permanent resolution, stating that they would not abandon the issue half-way. Naqvi clarified that PTI's primary demand was for Imran Khan to undergo a medical examination at a hospital, which may have already been completed, and that the government would adhere to the prescribed treatment under the law, regardless of the party's demand.
