Naqvi warns PTI against Islamabad march, urges it to reconsider protest plan

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi cautioned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against marching in Islamabad, stating the government would enforce the Islamabad High Court’s rulings and prevent the capital from being "stormed." At a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi announced preparations for the planned march and urged protesters to reconsider their decision.

He emphasized that such protests would negatively impact the economy, public, and protesters themselves, and noted that a majority of the PTI leadership did not want to proceed with the long march. Naqvi affirmed the government's commitment to implementing the court’s orders and finding a permanent solution to the repeated protests.

He also highlighted security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a recent blast at a mosque in Kohat, urging the PTI to focus on combating terrorism instead of holding protests. When asked about PTI founder Imran Khan's health, Naqvi confirmed that if a medical check-up had been requested, it had already been conducted the previous night, and Khan's treatment would proceed according to the law.

Naqvi added that efforts to create new provinces were progressing, emphasizing that provinces would be established if Allah wills and the people desire it. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan denounced the reported arrests of party members, warning that such actions would exacerbate political tensions and called for a cessation of the escalation.
