CNN, MS NOW, Politico say they’ve notified Trump they’re suing over denied White House access

Three prominent news organizations, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, announced on Monday that they have notified President Donald Trump's administration of their intent to file a lawsuit over being denied access to the White House. This comes in the wake of an incident on Saturday when the White House barred reporters from the three outlets, citing coverage they deemed to be "fake news."

The move represents a significant escalation in Trump's ongoing attempts to limit coverage by journalists he disapproves of, both through legal action and administrative measures. It also highlights a critical test of First Amendment protections in the United States. On Friday, Trump had threatened to ban all three outlets due to unfavorable reporting.

White House reporters from CNN, Betsy Klein, and MS NOW, Akayla Gardner, announced they were blocked and their press credentials were deactivated upon arrival. Politico's White House reporter, Cheyenne Haslett, also reported similar treatment. All three news organizations had previously suggested legal action, stating they would staunchly defend their First Amendment rights.

In a joint statement on X, they declared that the White House's sudden revocation of their credentials, without prior notice, was an attack on press freedom and an infringement on the public's right to independent journalism free from government meddling.
