CNN, others sue Trump over White House press ban

Three major news organizations, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, seeking to restore their access to the White House and protect their First Amendment rights. The lawsuit was announced on Monday, following the Trump administration's decision to bar these outlets from the White House and revoke their press credentials.

The administration accused these media organizations of reporting "fiction and lies" about the president, his administration, and the United States. In response, the three news outlets declared that they would be filing a lawsuit to defend their right to independent journalism free from government interference.

The ban on these outlets came after the White House revoked their journalists' press passes without notice, citing objections to their reporting. This move was reported earlier by Reuters, who noted that reporters from the three organizations were denied entry to the White House complex on Saturday, September 19.

The lawsuit now puts the dispute over media access before a federal court, as the news organizations aim to challenge the government's decision to exclude their journalists from the White House grounds.
