China confirms Xi to visit US this week for Trump talks

Beijing has officially announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be visiting the United States this week to engage in discussions with President Donald Trump. The official statement from the Chinese government confirmed that Xi will be in the US from Wednesday to Friday. Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun revealed that the primary focus of these meetings would be a comprehensive exchange of views on significant issues pertaining to the bilateral relationship and global peace and development.

Both countries aspire to enhance the depth of their strategic partnership, bolster dialogue and cooperation, and address differences in a constructive manner. US President Trump is set to meet Xi personally upon his arrival at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday, before they convene for further talks the following day. The White House emphasized that this meeting is expected to pave the way for easing tensions over trade, technology, and broader strategic concerns.

Key issues on the agenda include the ongoing trade war, the threat of military conflict over Taiwan, and the recent political developments in the Middle East, particularly the US war in Iran. China's diplomatic efforts aim to navigate these complex challenges while avoiding US sanctions against countries engaged with Tehran.
