Bungie un-cancels Destiny: Vaulted content is coming back as new leadership promises 'Destiny is foundational to our future'

Bungie's new leaders announced the future direction of the company in a blog post and video, revealing that they have essentially brought Destiny back, undoing their decision to "vault" significant content. This decision, which permanently removed raids and multiple story campaigns, began a downward spiral for the game. The issue stemmed from Bungie's attempt to address bloat within the game by deleting large portions of it.

The removal of key content, such as a campaign that a friend had previously enjoyed, led to a significant loss of goodwill for the studio. This situation became even more dire after a round of layoffs that targeted hundreds of Bungie developers, essentially dismantling the Destiny 2 team. While it is unclear if Bungie plans to rehire the lost talent, it is evident that the company recognizes the need to rebuild trust with its community.

Additionally, Bungie revealed that the multiplayer game Marathon is undergoing transformation with the addition of a permanent PvE mode and social space in December, proving that the studio is not shutting down in the immediate future.
