‘Broken’- Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy face brutal reality after Steelers’ ugly loss

Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy faced a harsh reality after the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a 20-3 defeat to the New England Patriots, marking their first loss of the season. The Steelers managed a paltry 235 total yards and scored just three points, dropping them to a 1-1 record after a narrow win against Atlanta in Week 1. CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan described the offense as "broken" after only two games, a stark contrast to their promising start in Week 1.

The Steelers' offense has been struggling, producing only 499 total yards in their opening two games, the lowest total in any season of Rodgers' or McCarthy's careers. Rodgers completed 23 of 39 passes for 187 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception, while the team struggled to maintain momentum, averaging just 3.8 yards per play.

Rodgers acknowledged that they "didn't get into a rhythm" and "played below our standard." Third downs were a major issue, as Pittsburgh converted only two of 12 attempts, and the team is now 5-for-25 on third down this season. The connection between Rodgers and rookie DK Metcalf, a key playmaker, has yet to materialize, as Metcalf only caught four passes for 27 yards.

McCarthy accepted responsibility for the poor performance, stating, "Clearly not good enough. That starts with me." While there is still time for Pittsburgh to turn things around, the next few games will determine if Sunday's loss was an aberration or the beginning of a much larger problem.
