Basare women urged to prioritise girl-child education

The Northern Regional Ambassador for Girl-Child Education, Montum Nisaw, has implored women in the Basare community to encourage their daughters to prioritize education. She highlighted that education participation among girls in the Northern Region is currently a concern and emphasized that mothers, in particular, must play a critical role in ensuring their daughters complete their schooling.

During a press conference on the sidelines of the 2026 Basare Youth Association (BAYA) Congress held at Kpandai in the Northern Region, Montum Nisaw advised young girls to remain focused on their studies and steer clear of negative influences that could jeopardize their futures. "I urge my peers to stay committed to their books and avoid bad friends," she stated.

"Education is crucial for our future, so we must treat it with seriousness." Montum Nisaw's appeal is aimed at urging young girls to stay committed to their education despite any obstacles that might impede their progress. She further called on the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to provide educational materials and logistics to bolster her efforts in promoting girl-child education in the Northern Region.

Montum Nisaw specifically extended an appeal to Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to support initiatives designed to encourage more girls in the region to enroll in school and continue their education. She noted that with the right educational support and heightened awareness among parents, the challenges facing girl-child education could be addressed, thereby opening better opportunities for young girls to achieve success.
