Five local councillors linked to speculation over new Negeri Sembilan exco appointments appeared before the Palace on Friday. In Kuala Pilah, four from Barisan Nasional (BN) and one from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Wawasan, were summoned in connection with the speculation. According to Kosmo, the four BN councillors are Saiful Yazan Sulaiman (Johol), Sufian Maradzi (Seri Menanti), Zaidy Abdul Kadir (Jeram Padang), and Koh Kim Swee (Repah) from MCA.

The related Wawasan councillor is Gemas two-term MP Ridzuan Ahmad. The sources also mentioned the five councillors were called to appear at the Palace on Friday. Yesterday, the Palace announced that Tuanku Muhriz had decided to dismiss 10 exco members for violating their oath and pledge of loyalty on August 7. Of those, seven were from Umno, with one each from MCA, Wawasan, and PAS.

Under the State Constitution of Negeri Sembilan, the Menteri Besar and exco members hold their positions based on royal approval. Last week, the implicated exco members released a joint statement claimed to support Tuanku Muhriz's dismissal as the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar. However, the Minister of Agriculture, Ismail Lasim, backed the statement the following day.

The State Law and Constitutional Affairs Committee (DKU) rejected the statement as unconstitutional and affirmed Tuanku Muhriz's continued leadership of the state government. The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) also declared the statement had no legal effect as the Menteri Besar and exco members do not have the authority to remove a state government.
