2027: Tinubu warns police against partisan conduct

President Bola Tinubu cautioned the Nigeria Police Force against allowing political biases to impact their actions in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. He urged the officers to uphold the highest levels of professionalism and impartiality, emphasizing that the Force should not be perceived as serving any political interest.

Tinubu delivered this warning at the 2026 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, Imo State, with Senator George Akume presenting on his behalf. According to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity for the SGF, Yomi Odunuga, the President's message was conveyed through a statement released in Abuja. Tinubu emphasized that every Nigerian, regardless of their political leanings, ethnicity, religion, social standing, or location, must feel safeguarded by the police.

He stressed that the Force's neutrality and professionalism are crucial for public trust and the credibility of Nigeria's democracy.
