2 Indian students killed in Canada plane crash during flight training

Two Indian students, Manoj Sivakumar and Srisaran Thirugnanasambantham, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in Canada while undergoing flight training, according to the Consulate General of India in Vancouver. The consulate expressed deep sorrow for the families and loved ones of the deceased, offering them their heartfelt condolences.

The students were identified as being from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, respectively. The Indian embassy pledged to provide comprehensive consular support to the families, including the repatriation of their remains to India. The details of the accident involving the two Indian students are yet to be disclosed. Canadian news agency CBC reported a similar aircraft crash on Saturday, though it could not independently confirm whether it was the same incident.

The plane, operated by Harv's Air, a flight school, crashed near Kisbey, Saskatchewan, early Friday morning during a night cross-country flight from Regina to Steinbach, Manitoba. The plane was carrying two licensed pilots who had rented it to accumulate flight hours towards their commercial pilot licenses. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada was informed as the aircraft failed to arrive at its destination by 10:30 am Central Daylight Time.

Search and rescue teams located the aircraft at around 6 pm Central Daylight Time, and both occupants were found dead at the scene. This crash marks the third reported incident involving Harv's Air since January 2025, with previous incidents including an instructor being seriously injured in January 2024 and two student pilots losing their lives in an air collision in July 2025.
