Xi visits Washington, NSE listing, UN General Assembly debate

President John Dramani Mahama has journeyed from Accra to New York to take part in the 81st United Nations General Assembly. He is slated to address Ghana's statement during the main General Debate and to host two high-level side events. The assembly, themed "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All," begins on September 21.

Mahama's focus will be on Africa's renewal, historical justice, international cooperation, investment, and Ghana's development goals. On Monday, he will host a High-Level Event on the Accra Reset, aiming to tackle reforms in global development and international cooperation. The following day, he will host another event on "From Commitments to Action on Reparatory Justice," discussing international cooperation for returning and restoring cultural properties and heritage.

President Mahama will officially deliver Ghana's statement at the assembly's main debate on Thursday. In addition to these events, he is to meet with international partners, leaders, the UN Secretary-General, and executives of multinational corporations. They also plan to promote Ghana as a business and investment destination. A special highlight includes ringing the NASDAQ Closing Bell at the US-Ghana Presidential Roundtable.

Mahama will also speak at an event organized by the Council on Foreign Relations as part of the Open Leaders' Summit. On Friday, he will hold a town hall meeting with the Ghanaian community living in New York, sharing his perspectives on national development with the Ghanaians in the United States. Mahama's delegation includes the First Lady, Lady Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, various Cabinet ministers, senior officials from the Presidency, and other government officials.
