President Mahama leaves for 81st UN General Assembly

President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a journey to New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The event, themed "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All," marks a significant milestone for the global body.

Mahama will host two side events during his attendance. On September 21, he will host a High-Level Event on the Accra Reset, a discussion aimed at revamping global development efforts. Then, on September 23, he will lead a side event focusing on "Next Steps" for reparatory justice, specifically addressing the return and restitution of cultural properties and heritage.

The President's official statement to the main General Debate is slated for Thursday, September 24. In addition to these events, Mahama will be meeting with world leaders, the UN Secretary-General, and executives of multinational corporations to foster partnerships, encourage investment, and engage with the diaspora. He plans to visit various locations, including the NASDAQ, where he will ring the Closing Bell, and the US-Africa Presidential Roundtable, organized by the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce.

Moreover, Mahama will speak at the Council on Foreign Relations, attend the Ocean Panel Leaders’ Meeting, and host a Town Hall with the Ghanaian community in New York. Accompanying him on this historic trip is the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, along with cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
