Woman killed as car plunges 40 feet off Bengaluru-Mysuru highway flyover

On Friday, a tragic accident occurred on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Anjana D R. The woman, who was working on her laptop in the rear seat of her Hyundai Venue, lost her life when the vehicle plummeted nearly 40 feet from a flyover into an underpass near Mandya town, Karnataka.

Anjana was traveling with her husband Harish, an IT professional, and their family friend Nitin. The three were en route to their company's Mysuru branch at around 6 pm when the accident took place. According to the police, Harish and Nitin sustained minor injuries and remained in the vehicle during the ordeal, while Anjana was ejected from the car due to the force of the impact.

The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but it is believed that Harish may have hit the divider, causing the car to lose control and plummet multiple times before landing. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles in the underpass, which served as a service road at the time of the incident. The Mandya police have registered a case under charges of rash or negligent driving, reckless acts endangering human life or safety, and causing death by such acts.
