UAE sends 781 tonnes of food and shelter supplies and nine water tankers to Gaza

The United Arab Emirates has transported an additional 781 tonnes of essential aid, along with nine water tankers, to the Gaza Strip, according to recent reports. This support comes as part of a humanitarian campaign launched in response to the prolonged crisis in Gaza. The supplies, including food and shelter materials, were transported to the enclave this week by four aid convoys comprising 57 lorries.

The UAE Humanitarian Aid Logistics Centre in Al Arish, Egypt, has been preparing large quantities of essential goods for transportation to Gaza. Since the onset of the Gaza war in October 2023, the UAE has sent a total of 14,290 lorries loaded with 136,439 tonnes of aid under this humanitarian initiative. The Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people in Israel, with 251 people taken hostage, according to Israeli figures.

Over 73,700 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's military campaign, as reported by Gaza health authorities. Although a US-backed ceasefire in October 2025 halted large-scale fighting in Gaza, Israeli strikes have continued, and there has been limited progress towards a permanent peace. The UAE has been a leading force in providing financial assistance to Gaza, with over Dh14.2 billion ($3.89 billion) of aid sent over 1,000 days of continuous support.

This funding has contributed to the establishment of a floating hospital in Egypt and two medical centers in Gaza, as well as the transportation of numerous medical patients, including those suffering from cancer and war-related injuries, to the UAE for treatment. Furthermore, the UAE's Step of Hope programme, launched in June to aid civilians who lost limbs during the war, has fitted prosthetic limbs for dozens of Palestinian amputees since the campaign's inception.
