Ukrainian drones target Moscow, oil refinery in deadly attack, Russian officials say

Moscow suffered a deadly drone attack on Sunday morning, with at least two people reported killed and 20 injured across various districts. The Russian capital's mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, claimed that 450 Ukrainian drones were shot down while en route to Moscow, describing the strikes as unprecedented. The attack targeted the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building, though no fatalities were reported in those incidents.

Ukraine's Counter-Disinformation Center reported a "major incident" at the refinery, which supplies fuel to the capital city. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the strikes had a significant impact on Russia's oil industry, causing billions of dollars in damage. Moscow's international airports temporarily restricted flights following the attack, though the restrictions were lifted by morning.

Russia's Defense Ministry reported shooting down 1,110 Ukrainian drones overnight, the highest number ever recorded. The incident came as Russian officials accused Ukraine of disrupting parliamentary elections set to conclude on the same day.
