Peter Obi vows life imprisonment for hard drug importers if elected president

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has vowed to impose life imprisonment on anyone caught importing hard drugs into Nigeria, should he win the presidency in 2027. This stern statement was made during a town hall meeting with NDC members and supporters in Kaduna State, where Obi also cautioned other political parties against making unattainable promises if they secure office.

"If I become Nigeria's President, a life sentence awaits every hard drug importer," Obi stated, adding that the loss of countless young lives to drug abuse is a pressing concern. Furthermore, Obi urged political parties to concentrate on Nigeria's challenges by engaging directly with the populace. He also revealed his intention to spend his annual holidays in Nigeria if elected, in order to remain close to the people and address issues such as insecurity and other national challenges.
