No luck: Michigan State drops road test at No. 3 Notre Dame

Michigan State faced a tough road test against No. 3 Notre Dame, but ultimately fell short 27-10 at Notre Dame Stadium on September 19. Despite putting up a fight in the first three quarters, the Spartans were unable to sustain their momentum and came up short in the fourth quarter. The Irish offense was dominant, scoring 10 unanswered points to pull away from a one-score game.

Quarterback Alessio Milivojevic completed 9-of-17 passes for 123 yards, while throwing two interceptions. Michigan State's offensive line struggled against Notre Dame's defense, allowing eight sacks and keeping the Spartans from mounting a comeback. Quarterback CJ Carr threw for 234 yards and no touchdowns, while Micah Gilbert had 170 receiving yards on eight catches.

The Spartans' run game was also ineffective, garnering only 44 yards on 27 rushing attempts. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald's first loss in South Bend marked the start of a challenging season for Michigan State.
