Moscow sees the ‘rise’ of Nazism in Ukraine: Russians united behind Putin amid confrontation with West: envoy

Russian Consul-General Andrey Fedorov stated that Russians across the globe are united in their support for President Vladimir Putin amidst the ongoing conflict with the West. Speaking to Business Recorder, Fedorov emphasized that Russians are "standing hand to hand, back to back, shoulder to shoulder" in this confrontation.

He asserted that Russia has no intent to attack any Western country, but maintains that Moscow cannot accept the current situation in Ukraine. Fedorov cited Russia's tragic history during World War II, claiming that over 27 million Russians were exterminated by Nazis, and argued that the country is witnessing the "rising of Nazism in Ukraine."

Referring to the prohibition of the Russian language in Ukraine, Fedorov said that many Ukrainians consider themselves Russian and speak Russian. When asked about the duration of the ongoing war, he stated that Russia will not tolerate the situation and asserted: "We, in any case, will win this confrontation."

Fedorov claimed that President Putin enjoys more than 80 percent support from the Russian people, attributing this to improvements in living standards and security following the difficulties and high criminal activity of the 1990s and early 2000s. He also highlighted the significance of the State Duma elections, noting that the constitutional changes will give the lower house a greater role in forming the government.

The diplomat revealed that Russia-Pakistan relations are "progressing very fast," particularly at political and economic levels, with ongoing discussions about various economic projects and regular meetings between leaders on the sidelines of international summits. Asked about a possible visit by President Putin to Pakistan, Fedorov said the Pakistani people are eagerly awaiting his arrival, but declined to provide a specific timeframe.
