Telangana man who killed sister’s husband to ‘avenge’ her murder had been tracking court proceedings

In Telangana, G Santhosh had been closely monitoring court proceedings involving the murder of his sister Vaishnavi by her husband, C Hari Babu, in March. Santhosh's wife, Sowjanya, noted that her husband was distressed by the ongoing bail hearing for Babu, fearing the court might grant bail due to evidence loopholes presented by the police.

On September 18, four months after his wife's murder, Babu was released on bail under several conditions. Two months later, Santhosh allegedly killed Babu in Nizamabad town. Sowjanya described her husband as withdrawn and angry after Vaishnavi's death, describing him as a different person who showed little interest in food and snapped at their daughters and her.

Prior to her death, Vaishnavi had posted a video announcing her pregnancy. Babu resented her increasing online popularity. After his release on bail, Babu avoided his wife's family in Jagtial and moved to Nizamabad, setting up a stall to sell corn. On the day of the murder, Babu was attacked by Santhosh and his friends armed with a sickle, resulting in his death.

Santhosh later confessed to the crime in a selfie video and surrendered to the police, with Sowjanya left to contemplate the future for herself and their daughters.
