La Liga: Simeone tells Mourinho to respect referees after derby win

Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone has called on Real Madrid coach José Mourinho to show respect to referees, warning that even the biggest football managers must be cautious with their comments about match officials. This advice came after Real Madrid's loss to Atlético Madrid 2-1 on Sunday. Simeone emphasized on social media that reputations should not grant managers any immunity from adhering to the standards expected of them.

He also cautioned that there should be limits when managers speak publicly about officials. Atlético Madrid's manager further warned against crossing the line when discussing referees. He stated, "You should never cross the line," irrespective of one's status in the sport. Simeone explained that refereeing decisions are inherent in football, with teams experiencing both favorable and unfavorable calls throughout a season.

"Sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don’t," he remarked. When discussing the match, Simeone succinctly assessed the contest, highlighting the discrepancy in effectiveness between the two teams. "The match was clear: there was one team that controlled it, one team that knew how to take advantage of the crucial moments in the game," he said, "and another team that didn’t create the goal-scoring chances they normally do."
