Kerry-Lynne Findlay resigns as BC Conservatives leader

Kerry-Lynne Findlay has resigned as leader of the BC Conservatives, citing an internal battle that she believes is distracting from the work needed in British Columbia. Her decision comes just hours after another MLA, Linda Hepner, announced her resignation from the caucus. Hepner cited the removal of three MLAs from the party on Friday as the reason for her departure.

Findlay's resignation letter stated that she wished to travel the province and meet with residents to advocate for a strong, united Conservative movement, but instead, her time was consumed by internal conflict. She acknowledged making decisions she would make differently now and accepted responsibility for her choices. As the BC Conservatives now have no leader, Findlay stated that the party needs a reset and will continue to campaign in the upcoming Abbotsford-Mission by-election.

The party, now reduced to 25 MLAs, is the third largest in the legislature, focusing on crime and safety, health care, and the economy. A snap election could potentially be called as early as this week, with the next scheduled date in October 2028.
