Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the government will fully utilize the monarchy to safeguard the Malay Rulers' system, state governance, and legislation. Speaking at the Selangor Reformist Reformers' Hi-Tea Reunion at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC), Anwar stated that the establishment of the monarchy clearly demonstrates the need to uphold the Raja Berperlembagaan system, state governance, and legislation.

"Our mandate, based on the Raja Berperlembagaan system, state governance, and legislation, requires the king to be protected... not by a party determining who the king is," he added when addressing the event. Anwar further noted that electoral victories cannot be used as a justification to challenge the king's position since the people's mandate is not to alter the monarchy system.

"Did we say during our manifesto, 'we will win the king's favor'?" he questioned. "There isn't one," he reiterated. "People supported you to protect the monarchy system. (When) you win, you dismiss the current king," he added. He further stated that any disputes related to the monarchy institution must be resolved through legal channels and established procedures, not through media or political parties.

While the Prime Minister did not mention it explicitly, it is understood that he refers to the controversy surrounding the succession of the Perak monarchy. On September 16th, the State Council of the Perak Government, majority of which were Umno party members, declared the proclamation of the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir's throne on April 19th as legal, thus acknowledging Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new Yang Di Pertuan Besar.

The following day, the State Law and Order Council of Perak (DKU) affirmed the exco's decision regarding the throne removal of Tuanku Muhriz, stating that it has no legal impact since the issue is outside the jurisdiction of the Perak State Government.
