How to get Federal High Court affidavit online without visiting court

The Federal High Court in Nigeria has introduced an electronic system for obtaining affidavits without the need for physical court visits. The new e-Affidavit Portal, part of the court's Electronic Court Management System (ECMS), allows individuals to apply for affidavits from any location with internet access.

To begin the process, applicants must first create an account on the portal's website. During registration, they provide personal details such as full name, phone number, date of birth, email address, and password. The name entered should be the one appearing on the affidavit. After registration, users log in and access the affidavit module to proceed.

Once logged in, applicants complete their affidavit profile by entering personal information like native town, residential address, occupation, NIN, country of origin, state of origin, gender, religion, and date of birth. They must also upload a passport photograph and identity card. The court advises that all provided information should be accurate before saving the profile.

Next, applicants choose the type of affidavit they require from a range of categories, including name changes, date of birth corrections, loss of documents, identity matters, marriage, banking, and general purposes. After selecting an affidavit, they fill out the relevant application form with personal details, the purpose of the affidavit, and specific information related to their application.

Applicants are required to upload a recent passport photograph, a valid form of identification, and their signature. Accepted identification documents include a national identification number, international passport, driver's licence, or voter's card. The portal specifies that uploaded files must adhere to its size limitations (maximum 300KB) and other technical requirements.

After reviewing the application, applicants agree to the portal's terms and conditions, consenting to the processing of their personal data according to the Nigeria Data Protection Act. They then pay the required fee via electronic payment options like Paystack and Remita. The displayed fee varies depending on the service, and applicants should confirm the amount for their specific application.

Upon successful payment and processing, applicants can download the completed affidavit from the portal. A copy is also sent to their email address. The Federal High Court maintains that payments made through the portal are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable.
