Harry, Meghan need protection to avoid Diana's ordeal

Princess Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, has suggested that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan should receive official security following their return to Britain. Spencer, who penned a highly critical book about Diana, believes that the media's treatment of both Diana and the couple is reminiscent of the invasive coverage that led to her untimely death in 1997.

Diana was killed in a Paris car crash when photographers pursued her on motorbikes, sparking public outrage and a discussion over whether the media bore some responsibility. Spencer, an uncle to Harry, emphasized the need for protection in light of Harry's position as fifth-in-line to the British throne and his military background.

He argued that the harsh media scrutiny Harry and Meghan faced could be "really, really unpleasant" and urged people to learn from past mistakes. The palace responded by stating that the King was mindful of the pain of fraternal grief and warned against rushing to judgment. Spencer's book, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Diana's death, aims to celebrate her life and highlight the family's tumultuous childhood experiences.
