Entrepreneur Sam Tsen named among JCI Malaysia's Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians 2026

Johor Baru: Entrepreneur Sam Tsen has been selected as one of Malaysia's Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) 2026 in the Moral and/or Environmental Leadership category. Tsen, the founder and group chief executive officer of SBH Consultancy, has dedicated 17 years to the financial sector, promoting financial literacy, responsible financial solutions, and ethical business practices.

Tsen emphasized that the recognition symbolized more than personal entrepreneurial success. He stated that finance is not merely about numbers but involves people, families, businesses, and future prospects. Tsen entered the debt restructuring industry at the age of 19, which led him to believe that merely providing access to money was insufficient to tackle the root causes of financial issues.

This conviction shaped the philosophy of SBH Consultancy, which he established to offer a more professional, education-driven approach to financial services. SBH Consultancy has since grown into a nationwide network with seven branches and over 100 consultants, providing services such as financial advisory, debt restructuring, SME financing, financial education, technology, and asset-backed solutions.

The organization has helped over 30,000 individuals and 2,000 SMEs, handling more than RM100 million in debt restructuring each year. Tsen has also prioritized financial education, reaching more than 310,000 Malaysians through more than 400 free educational programs and workshops. Additionally, he ventured into financial technology with Money Buddy, a digital platform designed to enhance consumers' access to financial tools and information.

Apart from his business ventures, Tsen serves as the national vice-president of the SME Association of Malaysia, advocating for financial readiness, responsible financing, and sustainable development among SMEs. He shared that past business setbacks reinforced his belief that profitability and ethics can coexist. Tsen acknowledged that the TOYM recognition brought a greater responsibility to contribute to the community.

He highlighted that his humble beginnings taught him that one's starting point does not determine their future potential. Tsen expressed his intention to contribute to a more financially empowered Malaysia by enhancing financial literacy, bolstering SME resilience, and expanding access to responsible financial solutions.
