Disha Salian’s father serves ₹500 crore notice to Aaditya Thackeray over ‘political conspiracy’ claim

Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, delivered a ₹500 crore defamation notice to Aaditya Thackeray, leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT) party, outside the residence of Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday. The notice was issued in response to Aaditya's claim that the "political conspiracy" behind Disha's 2020 death was a fabrication. Satish Salian, accompanied by his legal team led by advocate Nilesh Ojha, arrived at Matoshree around 4 pm amidst heavy police presence and a large media contingent.

Aaditya Thackeray's lawyers, Rahul Diwate and Anil Jadhav, accepted the notice. Sena (UBT) workers were present in large numbers outside Matoshree as the proceedings commenced. Police permitted the group to enter Kalanagar, but the residence's doors remained secured for security reasons. Salian had petitioned the Bombay High Court for a new investigation into his daughter's death, which occurred in a high-rise in Malad in September 2020.

The court later ordered the CBI to probe the circumstances surrounding her demise, record Disha's statement, and register an FIR. However, the High Court stipulated that no individual should be treated as an accused without substantial evidence. Disha's father maintained that she was sexually assaulted and murdered, while Aaditya denied any knowledge of her and alleged the allegations were politically motivated.
