Delhi couple Yuvraj Singh Manchanda and Anya Vats, accused of murdering a senior executive in September, are now under investigation for a multi-million rupee fraud racket, according to an FIR filed by the victim. The alleged fraud involved coercing victims to repay over Rs 1.2 crore by sending fake notices from the Enforcement Directorate and high-level government agencies.

The complainant, a senior vice-president at a non-banking financial company, transferred Rs 1.2 crore to Vats' bank account, which she then demanded an additional Rs 26 crore for. Manchanda allegedly learned about the alleged fraud racket after receiving a WhatsApp message threatening repayment before Diwali. The investigation also suggests that Manchanda might have been aware of the couple's alleged activities, including a property fraud case involving Vats' estranged wife.

Both Manchanda and Vats are suspected to have used fabricated notices under various acts to extort money. The couple allegedly stopped in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, while fleeing to Uttarakhand after the murder, possibly attempting to avoid police. Police have seized an illegal pistol and the victim's car, with forensic teams examining both for evidence.
