2027: INEC assures Nigerians of electoral integrity

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged its dedication to maintaining electoral integrity before the 2027 general elections, according to an official assurance by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan. The assurance was shared on Saturday during a meeting at INEC's National Situation Room in Abuja, where Amupitan discussed the swift resolution of operational challenges that arose during pre-elections in four states.

These states included Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta. Amupitan, speaking through a statement issued by the Commission's Chief Press Secretary Adedayo Oketola, highlighted the Commission's commitment to addressing both administrative and field issues that may arise prior to elections. The INEC Chairman emphasized that these four by-elections were crucial tests for the Commission, serving as essential training for the upcoming general election in 2027.

Amupitan noted that every election, regardless of its frequency, should be treated as a significant component of the broader electoral preparations. He urged the Commission to remain vigilant in refining its processes to enhance efficiency and build public confidence, ensuring that every future election meets higher standards of excellence.
