Xiaomi Launches Its First 4K CCTV Camera With Full Color Night Vision

Xiaomi has initiated a crowdfunding campaign for its first 4K CCTV camera with full-color night vision, the Smart Camera 5 Pro. The campaign in China prices the camera at approximately $64, with a projected retail price of around $90. The Smart Camera 5 Pro is Xiaomi's first camera that captures full-color images in both day and night conditions, focusing on maintaining color in low-light environments.

The camera features a dual-lens system, including an 8MP main sensor and a 4MP secondary sensor, capable of 4K video output. This setup ensures full-color night vision. Additionally, the camera incorporates a built-in soft light that provides extra illumination when needed. Various night-vision modes are available, such as human detection, event-triggered monitoring, and a mode that avoids visible red light.

The Smart Camera 5 Pro is equipped with a local AI processor providing 1.5 TOPS of computing power. This enables the camera to identify people, pets, and detect crying sounds directly, eliminating the need to transmit data to the cloud for analysis. The camera also boasts a dual-motor pan-and-tilt system for 360-degree horizontal rotation and a 174-degree vertical range of motion.

Targeted for use in domestic settings like living rooms, nurseries, and elder-care environments, as well as for monitoring pets, the Smart Camera 5 Pro supports two-way voice calls via Xiaomi's Mijia Smart Connect and Wi-Fi 6 technology. The Wi-Fi 6 feature can boost transmission speeds by up to 60%. Users can store footage using microSD cards, cloud storage, or NAS systems, thanks to Xiaomi's AOR all-day low-power recording system, which reduces storage consumption while preserving important footage.

The camera also includes privacy controls such as lens masking, local AI processing, and access controls, ensuring security and privacy for installations in private areas.
