Why Loke out and not Nga, asks Akmal

A dispute has emerged between Dr Akmal Saleh of Umno Youth and DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming following the Johor election, and it resurfaced after DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook's resignation as transport minister over clemency for Najib Razak. Akmal questioned why Loke opted to resign rather than Nga, despite Nga's pledge to resign if Najib was released from prison over the SRC International case.

In a Facebook post, Akmal stated, "If you've forgotten – or are pretending that you've forgotten – how to write a resignation letter..." "Nga talked up a storm, but Loke took action. In the end, Nga stays as minister. How clever," he added. This is the latest development in an ongoing feud between Umno and DAP leaders; Akmal had previously committed to resubmitting his resignation as a Melaka executive councillor if Nga stepped down as housing and local government minister.

The disagreement first erupted after the Johor election, when Nga had stated he would resign if Barisan Nasional achieved a decisive victory in the state, instead promising to quit only if Najib was freed from his jail term, in response to Akmal's urging for Nga to "fulfill his promise" to resign.
