AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal & Family Among 110 Served SIR Notices In New Delhi Electoral Roll Revision

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and former BJP chief Virendra Kumar Sachdeva are among 33 lakh electors in the Capital receiving Special Intensive Revision (SIR) notices for eligibility verification amid the ongoing electoral process. Gupta was initially issued a notice for alleged inconsistencies in her age and her parents' age, but her notes were validated after providing necessary documents.

Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, received a notice after his family provided incomplete enumeration forms, which failed to link them to the last revision of respective states, according to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). The AAP accused the BJP of attempting to remove the voting rights of political opponents.

Notices will be issued and resolved between August 31 and October 29, with the final electoral roll published on November 4. As of Saturday, 31.6 lakh notices have been generated and dispatched to electors, requiring them to submit one of the 13 required documents, such as a birth certificate, passport, or caste certificate, to substantiate their eligibility.
